Today’s post is all about this book right here, Empire of Storms. It’s number five in the series (six if you count the prequel book that came out after). And I’ve loved this series for a while. Sarah J Maas is without a doubt one of my favorite authors. So let’s dive into this book, shall we?
My overall rating for this book was a 4.5. I gave brief reasoning why on Goodreads, it was a good book. I did find it got slow in a few places and there were some things I wish had had more details but no book or character is perfect.
I also wasn’t a huge fan of the switching on the POVs in this book. She does this in all of them I know and I don’t care for it then either but I know it’s necessary for her writing style and plot development. But in this book, I wanted to know what the main character was doing not all the side points. I wanted to know the depth of the relationship and the favors called in. I feel like a lot of things happened that we didn’t get to see because it was “behind the scenes work.”
So with all that in mind I still did enjoy the book. I finished it in about three days so it’s not like it was awful. I just wish there were more details in the littel things that were going on. Everyone was so focused on the war coming that the how was lost a bit.
That’s all I’ve got today y’all I’m currently reading “Kingdom of Ash” right now and as soon as I’m finished with that one I’ll review it too!
Lots of love from the Tar Heel State,
Brittany
